Last day Q&A

My Project Q&A

1. Provide an overview of your project/artifact. (For example: I designed a video game using Scratch programming where the player, or snowman, has to catch 5 snowflakes and avoid the flying flames.)

I designed a lamp from a jar and painted a unicorn onto it :) On the inside, there is an Arduino board that I coded to flash one at a time, then turn off one at a time. After it performs this, it flashes my name (Ashlyn) in Morse code.

2. What were the important learning targets of this project/artifact? (What were the requirements for the project?)

I was required to code a personalized pattern of lights on my board, and to use Morse code in this. I also decorated my jar.

3. What were the computer science concepts used for this project/artifact? (Variables, loops, conditional statements, functions, lists/arrays, methods, etc.)

In this project, I used loops, conditional statements, variables, and if/else statements.

4. What were the computational thinking principles used for this project/artifact? (Abstraction, algorithms, correctness, efficiency, iteration or loop statements, variables, etc.)

I used algorithms, iterations, variables, and correctness.

5. How does this project/artifact relate to the “real” world? What did you learn or use that will help you outside the classroom?

This project can help me outside this class because I learned a lot more about Arduino and how to code. I can definitely pursue a job in this field in the future.

6. In this project/artifact, what did you particularly want others to notice?

I really wanted people to notice the time I put into painting my unicorn :) and the pattern I created with the lights.

7. What would you improve if you could do this over again?

If I did this again, I would probably put on more lights onto the Arduino board, and paint my design on a larger jar.

8. Does this project/artifact reflect the effort you put into it? Why or why not?

It does reflect my effort, because the pattern is very cool and unique, and the painting on it looks great because I took my time on it.
